“This is Cinderella,” my new stepfather introduced. My mother remarried and this time, to Cinderella’s dad. However, I did not expect that this was the first and last time he had spoken to me. He passed away during one of his business trip.

Looking so innocent, it was easy to ask Cinderella to help us. We were not ill treating her, neither were we bullying her. But Ms Cindy just had to act pitiful and our neighbours will always have a bad impression of me, my sister and mother. Cinderella always volunteers to help do the household chores. We did not force her into doing it. She did not even want to sleep on her bed but sleep on the floors of the kitchen! Should anyone walked past our house, Cinderella will act Ms Innocent.

Yet again, we were painted as the bad guys who will bully Ms Cindy. It is unfair!

Then, a letter was sent to our homes. It was the Prince’s ball and he will choose his princess in the ball. All of us were excited and yet anxious at the same time. Shopping was stressful! We had to buy so many things and could not decide which dress we should wear at the ball. But, Cinderella did not buy anything and even offered to help carry our bags! We thought that Cinderella was so sweet as we do have many things to carry. Didn’t we expected that many people around us started to badmouth us, saying that we treat our step-sister as a maid.

Ridiculous!

The night of the ball came and me and my sister was all ready to go to the ball. My mother even asked Cinderella if she wanted to go to the ball, however, she refused. But she was the star of the night when everyone was already at the palace. Immediately, the prince asked if he could dance with her. Almost everyone was jealous of her as she was the most beautiful lady in the ball.

When the clock struck 12, she ran off, leaving her glass slipper behind. We all know that she had this all plan. Cinderella has been reading too much fairytale lately.

So I guess Cindy is living happily ever after as what most fairytales endings are. As for us, others still have the impression of evil ugly step-sister,step-mother.

Confessions of a Movie Star
“Look over here Ashley!”
“Smile at the camera!”

Flashlights kept on shooting at my face as I parade on the red carpet. Walking down the red carpet was almost a weekly affair. Appearing on magazines with my natural perfect face in which everyone was dying for. Photo shoots done by the best photographer. Attending parties held by the rich and famous people. Shopping for clothes without even thinking of the cost. Getting my hair done in the most famous salon by the most famous hair stylist. This was the life that everyone was hoping for.

In actual fact, I hate this life. I had to always look perfect in everything. Attending parties was boring especially when I have to look as though I was enjoying it. I never had any true friends. No one to pour out my troubles and worries to. Everyone wants to be my friend just because I am popular.

Being Miss Perfect was not an easy thing to do. Plastic Surgery was my only choice. I had to do my nose as it was too flat. I had to cut my eyes to enlarge them and have double eyelids. My face was fake. In fact, my whole body was fake. I feel like a doll, a perfect doll. There was no room for mistakes. Not even once in my life.

I had to smile wherever I go just in case a paparazzi pops up in front of me. I had to look glamorous in everything that I do.

Paparazzis- I never like them.

I never had any privacy ever since I became a movie star. Not when I am doing sports or having my rest. I really want to quit my life and go back to the past when I have so much more freedom and privacy.

Yet again, the paparazzis’ camera went “snap!”
“Smile Ashley!”

(a) The girls were excited as they waited for the results.

The moment was here. After months of waiting for this day, it has finally arrived. The girls in the room were holding their breath. Beats of sweat trickled down their foreheads as they waited nervously. Nervous thoughts crept into their vulnerable minds every minute. The moment of truth will be unfolded before their very eyes soon. Hearts pumping faster as the Principle went on stage. All eyes were glued to him as he adjusted the microphone.

(e) She sat heart-broken on her bed.

Crunching her fists, she wept heavily on her bed. Her eyes were full of tears, blocking her vision. Her fragile heart could not take the blow that too shocking. She never thought it would turn out this way. Yet again, she took another look at her result slip, and broke down. Tears just kept on rolling down her cheeks. All she hoped for was that this was all a dream. The word “why” constantly appear in her mind.

Lent him my phone. Goodbye phone

“Dad, I will call you back later. I am crossing the road now. Bye” With that, I hung up the phone and waited for the green man. While waiting, my friends were praising me about how helpful and caring I was. That was why I gotten the “Most Helpful Student Award”.

“I remembered that time when Anna help the old lady cross the road.”

“Remember when Anna helped the young boy, who was lost in the shopping mall, to find his parents.”

“Yes, I do remember those times.”

I was blushing yet I love to hear those comments. At least, my helpfulness was remembered by others.

“Okay, let’s cross the road!” Holding my friends’ hands, we cross the road laughing away.
Not long after crossing the road, I sense that someone who following us. It was not long before I turned around, only to realize that a small boy was behind me. Curious, I asked “Is there a problem?”

He started to cry and told me that he was lost and could not find his parents. He tried asking passer-bys if they could lend him their phones so that he could contact his parents. However, none lend he. Believing what the boy said, I reach into my handbag to search for my phone.

“Here you go, call your parents.” I said with a smile. The small boy dialed the number. However, he said that he could not hear, as it was too noisy, and suggested that he moved to a quieter place. He went on and began to move further away from us.

“Anna, you are so helpful!” My friend, Esther, remarked.

“ANNA! Look! He is running away!”

All of us spotted the small boy running as fast as a cheetah. We gave chase but soon gave up as we were all wearing high-heels.

“You were cheated! That small boy was a cheat after all!”

Shocked by the fact, I needed time to accept it. It was not long later that we went to the police to make a report. However, the police said “You are not the only ones who have reported about this issue. Many have also reported about a small boy stating that he was lost. Later, he ran away with their phones.”

Menus vs Reality

Sunsilk shampoo adverstisment. [in other language]

It shows that even very very fizzy hair like that could change into beautiful hair. When I first brought it, I though:

"Have fizzy hair? Hate your hair? Or just having a bad hair day? No Problem! Sunsilk will come to your rescue! You will no longer have fizzy hair once you use this new Sunsilk Shampoo. The new improved Sunsilk has special ingredients that smoothens your hair and adds a special softness to your hair. You will have hair that outshines everyone. Soft and silky hair that you will not be embrass when you go out. "

After using this product for more than 2 months, I realised that all the above was lying. This was what I get:

"The soft and silky part was only for a short period of time, like about 2 hours after you use the product. In which your hair will turn back to its orginal state. Going out with friends it's a big problem especially after that 2 hours, you would not want to take photos due to the embrassment of horrible, fizzy, rough hair. All you want to do is to wash your hair again to regain it's softness"

US Election

1. What do you see in this cartoon?
- I see many whites and only one black in the above picture. They could be the Presidents of America.

2. What do you think this cartoon is trying to say?

- I think the cartoon is trying to show us that all the pervious presidents were whites and the only black is the current president Obama.

3. What message does it have?

- It shows that skin colour does not matter anymore as Obama became the first black president. It shows that not only whites can be president.

4. How do you know?

- It is very obvious as the other presidents in the past were all white while there is only one black.

5. What questions does this cartoon make you think of?

- Why were the past presidents all white? Does skin colour matters in the past? Would Obama be able to handle the country like the others?

Tattoos

Alot of people are having tattoos over them nowadays. It's common! However, some people are so rude by judging a person based on his/her tattoo(s). Their first reaction of those who have tattoos are "This person has something to do with the bad accomany. Beware!"

Unbelievable huh?

It is like judging a book by it's cover. This is so rude of them! Some people have tattoos on them NOT because they are gangsters whatsoever, they treat tattoos as a form of art. Haven you heard of a word called "Art"?

Some of others have tattoos to re-contruct their appreance (?). My grandmother and my Aunt both tattooed their eyebrows and eyes. Some tattooed for Medical reasons. Others tattooed to sort of go through the pain of child-birth.

I know how first impressions are like, but still it's not right to judge a person based on the outside. I have met people who have tattoos on them and look scary, but they are really nice and normal people like us. The only difference is that they have tattoos only.

How would you feel if someone judge you by what you wear. You may be a rich person who like to wear Bugis clothes. Would you like people to say that you are a poor person? You would'nt right? You will feel hurt. There are many examples and this is only one.

You would'nt like people to judge you by the outside right? So stop judging people just so that they have tattoos!
